City Hotel Gouda acquired by Q Hospitality Group
Acquisition aligns seamlessly with ambitious growth strategy
Q Hospitality Group has become the new owner of City Hotel Gouda as of this month. The acquisition marks the first since Léon Dijkstra joined the company as a shareholder in November last year. The hotel was acquired from European Hotel Capital.
City Hotel Gouda, located in the historic center of the city, opened its doors in 2012 and is part of the WorldHotels Crafted Collection, a brand within the BWH Hotel Group. The hotel offers 101 rooms, a bar/brasserie, and several meeting facilities with a capacity of up to 150 guests. The interior design reflects Gouda’s rich history, with subtle references to the city’s renowned cheese and pottery traditions.
Bas Tolmeijer, Co-founder & CEO of Q Hospitality Group:
“Our growth strategy is based on two pillars: urban hotels in prime locations in medium to large cities, and hotels that align with the Quality Lodgings collection. City Hotel Gouda is an excellent example of the first category. We are proud to add this hotel to our portfolio.”

A new phase of growth
With this acquisition, Q Hospitality Group takes its first step in expansion since the recapitalization of the company. Tolmeijer concludes:
“This acquisition marks the beginning of a new phase of growth. Thanks to our strong financial position, we are now in a position to consider larger acquisitions as well. Our focus remains on four-star-plus hotels or properties with that potential. We see many exciting opportunities and look forward to sharing more news soon.”
